Land Rover Defender
National Land Rover Defender 110 Td5
Some cars simply age; others gain character. This 2002 Defender 110 Td5, with 90,000 km, firmly belongs to the second group: a straight-edged off-roader that has become a cult object.
Its heart is the Td5, a 2.5-litre in-line five-cylinder turbodiesel with 122 hp, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drive. Honest, unfussy engineering, made to work far from the tarmac.
The Td5 became the Defender's standard engine in December 1998, because the previous Tdi could not meet Euro III rules. The 110 had arrived in March 1983 as the One Ten, replacing the Series III 109-inch, and the first Land Rover was launched in Amsterdam on 30 April 1948.
