Few pleasures match gliding through town in silence in a Porsche, then watching the road shrink ahead of the bonnet a moment later. This 2018 Cayenne E-Hybrid, with 84,000 km, moves between those two worlds with disarming ease.

A 340 PS 3.0-litre V6 joins a 136 PS electric motor for a combined 462 PS and 700 Nm, through an eight-speed Tiptronic S and all-wheel drive. A boost strategy borrowed from the 918 Spyder brings 0-100 km/h in 5.0 s, plus up to 44 km on electricity alone.

The Cayenne was born of the conviction that the 911 and Boxster alone could not secure Porsche's future. It debuted in Paris in 2002; the third generation, unveiled in Zuffenhausen in 2017, gained this plug-in version in 2018.
