Mercedes-Benz 280
Mercedes-Benz 280SL "Pagoda"
Elegance and lightness rarely meet as they do in the Pagoda. This 1969 280 SL, in metallic paint and with an automatic gearbox, is an invitation to travel unhurried, sunlight on the chrome and a straight-six humming ahead.
It is powered by the 2,778 cc M130 in-line six with 170 PS, the final evolution of the W113 family, driving the rear wheels. The four-speed automatic makes for relaxed progress, ideal for anyone seeking a classic to be enjoyed on the open road.
The W113 made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963. Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi created the first sports car with a safety body, and the concave hardtop that earned it the Pagoda name. The 280 SL arrived in December 1967 and proved the most popular: 23,885 built.
